Legendary Fleetwood Mac Founder and Drummer Mick Fleetwood
to Address 79th National Board General Meeting
The National Board of Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspectors is proud to announce legendary Fleetwood Mac founder and drummer Mick Fleetwood as the Opening Session speaker for the 79th General Meeting in San Antonio, Texas. His remarks will be delivered Monday morning, May 3, at the Hyatt Regency San Antonio.
Inducted into the Rock n’ Roll Hall of Fame in 1998, Mr. Fleetwood is recognized as the driving force behind Fleetwood Mac’s numerous successes.
In 1967, at age 16, he helped create the original blues lineup of Fleetwood Mac. Within two years, the group’s recordings outsold both the Beatles and The Rolling Stones.
In 1977, Fleetwood Mac released the multi-grammy Rumours album, which remains as one of the three biggest-selling albums of all time at over 30 million copies.
“Once again, the National Board is pleased to feature a superstar of extraordinary achievement,” notes National Board Executive Director David Douin. “Mr. Fleetwood’s presentation, I guarantee, will be among the most memorable Opening Sessions in the General Meeting’s 79-year history.”
In addition to renowned musical credentials covering 35 years, Mr. Fleetwood has earned a reputation as an outstanding businessman. In 1998, he invested in Accordance Music, a user-friendly software products company catering to the general public, including non-musicians and children. Additionally, he is co-owner and CEO of Tall-Man Records, through which he continues to be involved in finding, developing, and producing new artists and projects.
“While many may only recognize his career as Fleetwood Mac’s founder and performer, Mr. Fleetwood’s behind-the-scenes accomplishments are many,” Mr. Douin adds. “In addition to nurturing individual talent, he is also a believer in teamwork and the dynamic, creative product that evolves from collaboration. In this regard, I think we will all learn from his experiences involving empowerment as well as maintaining the passion for one’s day-to-day priorities.”
Taking place May 3-7, the General Meeting has designated as its theme: SAFETY: Assumed, Never Assured.
According to Mr. Douin, “Real danger occurs when those in our industry periodically experience a lapse in personal commitment. Presumption and assumption are perhaps the two biggest reasons accidents occur. That is why diligence must remain an ongoing priority.”
