The National Board Inspection Code committee (the NBIC main committee) consists of subcommittees, subgroups, and task groups of industry experts. These groups evaluate needs, then develop, approve, and revise the NBIC. The standards-writing subcommittees, subgroups, and task groups are open to representatives of groups that are materially affected by the code. These include manufacturers, repair firms, authorized inspection agencies, and representatives of government agencies.
